The platform supports text, image, and video content.

- To send notifications: To distribute email digests, real-time push alerts, or web socket notices regarding likes, comments, and new followers.
- To protect our Services: For security monitoring, abuse detection, and fraud prevention.
3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We process your personal information only when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason (i.e., legal basis) to do so under applicable law, such as:

We may share your personal data with third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform, including:
- Cloud Storage Providers: Cloudinary (for storing and serving user avatars and images).
- Video Infrastructure: Mux (for uploading, converting, and playing video attachments).
- Email Services: Resend / Brevo (for sending verification pins, password resets, and digest summaries).
- Database Services: MongoDB Atlas (for storing app records and relationships securely).
If you choose to sign up or log in to the Services using a Google account, we access public profile information, including your full name, email address, and avatar URL. We use this information to populate your SoB profile and verify your email. You can revoke Google OAuth permissions at any time through your Google account settings.
6. IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?
Our servers and third-party providers are located globally. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in jurisdictions other than your home country. We implement appropriate safeguards to protect your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Notice.
7. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
We keep your personal information for as long as you maintain an active account on SoB. If you request account deletion, we immediately trigger a full cascade delete: all your posts (including Cloudinary/Mux assets), comments, follow associations, block list histories, notifications, and profile details are purged from our live database.
8. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
We employ industry-standard technical and organizational security measures, including hashing passwords (using bcrypt), applying JSON Web Tokens (JWT) for session authorization, and running databases behind secure access tokens. However, no transmission over the internet can be 100% secure.
9. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Depending on your region, you have rights such as accessing your data, updating outdated information, limiting processing, or completely deleting your profile. You can exercise these directly within your profile settings page or by emailing our team.
10. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature signaling your privacy preference not to have data about your online activities monitored. Since there is no uniform standard for DNT signal recognition, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals.
11. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Yes. Residents of states like California (under CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah have rights to access, edit, delete, or obtain portability of their personal data, as well as opt out of targeted advertisements. We do not sell or lease your personal information.

Yes. Under the GDPR (European General Data Protection Regulation) and UK GDPR, visitors from the EEA and United Kingdom have rights of data portability, restriction of processing, objection to profiling, and the right to be forgotten.
